April 29 ~ One More!

This was so much fun, I just have to post one more photo!
Imagine the power rush for the crane operator, the guy in the neon green jacket, in the crane cab!
He must be incredibly skilled, not to mention, Calm!

April 27 ~ Perfect Timing!

I arrived at Fifth Avenue about ten minutes before this lift-off occurred!
Finally - the lifting of the skating hut, on camera!
So Exciting!

April 26 ~ Lift Off!

Last spring, I tried to get pictures of the skating huts being lifted off the canal,
but my timing was way off!
This year, I was just 15 minutes late, and arrived to see the hut already in place on the truck.
Still, it was extremely interesting to see all the big machines and the crane at work!
Apparently, the hut weighs 60,000 pounds, or the weight of 30 small cars!

I've seen many tulips in Ottawa in years past, but I don't think I've ever seen one like this!

April 18 ~ Raleigh, NC.

We spent a night with my cousin, Peter and his wife, Catherine, in Cary, near Raleigh.
We think that it had been about 15 years since we last saw each other.
It was a delight to be together again!

April 17 ~ Pinehurst Golf Resort

According to my golfing friends, Pinehurst Golf Club is one of the most prestigious clubs in America. Too bad I'm not 'into' golf!
However, it was a very impressive place to have lunch!

Cycling progress was slow, with many stops for me to have pats and chats with many magnificent horses!

April 15 ~ Zen Garden

At the Southern Pines Horticultural College, we found this serene Japanese Zen garden.
For you, Cindi.

April 10 ~ Horse Country

The quiet cycling roads take us through horse country, with paddocks, fences and horses gently grazing.

April 10~ Azaleas

Spring is in full bloom with colour everywhere! Cycling scenery is amazing !

April 9 ~ in Pinehurst, NC

The trees are just starting to leaf out, but the magnificent frame of this tree can still be seen!

April 8~ Spring Miracle

Every year, the bulbs grow once again.
Every year, it seems like a miracle!
How do the bulbs know that it is time to start growing?

April 8~ Great Idea!

We saw this road-side sign many times in the US.

April 6~ Crossing ...

This is a shot from the car, of crossing over the Ivy Lea Bridge, from Ontario to New York state. It was a miserable, wet drive.

April 5~ This is for me.

What are you having?

April 4 ~ Mer Bleu

At the right of the photo, the two grey rectangles are the seats of benches.
There is no sign of the boardwalk, still several feet under snow!

Thursday 3 April 2014

April 3 ~ Chicadee-dee-dee

Although there is still plenty of snow at Mer Bleu, the chicadees are back, and hungry!

Wednesday 2 April 2014

April 2 ~ Ah ...

Ah, what do I hear?
Snowbanks melting!
What do I see?
Grass!

April 1 ~ Signs of Spring

All winter, I tried to snap our cardinal, against a snowy backdrop, but he was too elusive.
He would fly away at the least sign of me moving to get my camera.
However, here he was basking in the sun, too content to fly away on me!

March 31 ~ Signs of Spring ...

When  get really anxious for spring,
I always buy some tulips to start my Spring-like mood.
