Oct. 29 ~ Downtown Vancouver

While walking the seawall overlooking False Creek, we could see fog rolling in from the ocean.
Downtown Vancouver is stunningly beautiful, especially on a sunny day.

Oct. 28 ~ Spider webs in Vancouver

With overnight fog, the moisture droplets collect on the spider web's filaments,
and give a brilliant delicate show in the morning sun light.
I was fascinated!

Oct. 27 ~ In Vancouver

Bill and I stopped at a fruit stand on the ways back from Kelowna, and saw bins full of unique squashes and pumpkins. Apparently, these are called 'Turks Turbins'.

Oct. 26~ on the way to Kelowna

We drove down from the clear blue sky of the mountains,
and into the fogged-in Okanagan Valley.

Oct. 25 ~ Sunlight in the Cedar Trees

On the West Coast, I love how the sun's rays split through the huge trees, through the fog.
It is breathtaking.

Oct. 24 ~ Kathryn in Kelowna

It is a joy to visit with my niece, Kathryn, in Kelowna.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule, Kathryn.
Bill, thanks for driving!

Tuesday, Oct. 22 ~ In Vancouver

Thena was my Grade One best friend, and we have been friends ever since ...for 64 years!
We spent the day together in Vancouver, walking and talking.
Getting together with Thena was very special!

Oct. 21 ~ Travel Pics

Seascapes also capture my interest.
I hope you notice the flock of birds flying over the church tower in the top photo.
It is the town of Vodice, on the Croation mainland.
The bottom photo is Luka, on the island of Privic, where we lived for a week.
I love the reflections!

Sunday, Oct. 20 ~ More Travel Pics

I always like quiet alleys and arches.
These two are very different, but give a reflective mood.

Oct. 18 ~ My Good Friend

Dianne and I enjoy a picnic at 'the rock' on Meech Lake.

Oot. 17 ~ Colourful Reflections

Blue sky, stunning colour, flat water, and a goof friend to paddle with.
 It doesn't get much better!

Thursday, Oct. 16 ~ Fall Colour

O'Brian's Beach is in the right corner of this picture, taken from the canoe.
Most of the red leaves have dropped.
The yellows and golds are hanging on to provide this beautiful display.

Wednesday, Oct. 16 ~ Butterfly

While trying to carry a four-year-old, and his piece of orange,
and the butterfly that landed on the orange,
I managed to take this photo with my free hand!
Amazingly, it is in focus!
If  I'd had two hands available, I would have changed the setting so as to blur the background.
Ah, well ...

Tuesday, Oct. 15 ~ At the Butterfly Show

At the Butterfly Show, at Carleton University last week, the butterflies flew around their greenhouse home, and landed on pieces of oranges that were given to visitors.
The result was one of amazement and wonder!

Every sunset is peaceful.

Saturday, Oct. 12 ... Another October Swim

With this incredible weather, the water was beckoning! ... and pretty chilly!

Friday, Oct. 11 ~ Swimming!

October 11 and a twenty minute swim in Meech Lake!
It was fantastic to swim with all the vibrant colours reflected in the water.
It was like swimming into a painting!
My friend, Nancy, is  just as crazy as I am!

Thursday, Oct. 10 ~ Travel Pics

Often it is difficult to capture interesting 'people' shots without the subject being aware.
In this picture, the business of the market obscured my pointing camera.

Wed. Oct 9 ~ Travel Pics

This picture is taken looking straight up into an open dome.
The story goes that the Emperor designed this dome so that he could stand in the middle of it,
at noon, and be bathed in sunlight, and thus look like a god!

Tue., Oct. 8 ~ Travel Pics

An early morning walk through the Old Town of Split reveals silence and shadows.
Later in the day it will be teaming with tourists.

Oct. 7 ~ Travel Pics

You've probably gathered that I'm pretty fond of Croatia, having been there twice in two years.
Here are some photos that I didn't post while travelling.
Above, is a shot taken in The Old Town of Split. The laundry indicates that it is still a real and vibrant community, not just a tourist curiosity.

A night at the Opera in Vienna

Tis was a night for my Ottawa Y Swim Team jacket to brush shoulders with jewels, gowns and tuxedoes!
