Aug. 29: Algonquin Park, 2011

Canoe trips have magic moments - this was one of them.
Margo and I out for an early morning paddle.

Aug. 28: Algonquin Park, 2011

Next week, this same group of friends, will be going on our third annual canoe trip.
Here are some photos from last year.

Aug. 27: Camping, 2011

One day, in late afternoon, our campsite was briefly swarmed by a herd? Flock? swarm? of dragonflies!

Aug. 26: Camping, 2011

To my mind, a canoe in itself is a work of art.
So a photograph or a painting with a canoe in it, is a double work of art!

Aug. 25: Camping, 2011

Because I didn't take any photos last week in Guelph and Toronto,
I"ll post some from last year's camping trip.
I Love the sky in this picture.

Aug. 24: Spider

Maggie and I at the Big Spider, iin front of the National art Gallery, earlier this summer.

Aug. 23: Cottage

Rick, Pat, Peggy and Bob.
Jazz, the dog, is either flying into, or out of, the picture.

Aug. 22: Howards' Cottage

After camping, we drove to Pat and Rick's newly built cottage, on Round Lake, near Havelock.
The new cottage is lovely; this is the view from the water.
We were treated royally for the weekend!

Aug. 21: Camping

How Canadian is this ... a canoe and a beautiful sunset!

Aug. 20: Camping

We followed this beaver when we were out for a sunset paddle.
He came to a shallow rock, and stopped to munch on something.
I was astonished and how close he allowed us to be!

Aug. 19: Camping

Bob and Jan in their canoe, on a day trip.
I love the reflections.

Aug. 18; Camping

A small flock of geese landed on this island, and waddled around.
Finally they crested the island, and they show up against the softer background.

Aug. 17: Camping

The beauty of sunrise is  soft and quiet.
Morning sun shines on the lake, bringing mist.
This picture evokes the call of the loon.

Aug. 16: Camping

Sometimes I like to add the Chestnut canoe to the picture.

Aug. 15: Camping

I went out solo in the canoe and took some spectacular sunset shots.
Sunset and sunrise paddles on a quiet lake, are one of my favourite things in life,

Aug. 14: Camping

Every year we go camping with our friends, Bob and Jan.
We go to the same lake and camp at the same campsite.
The lake is Crown Land, just north of Sharbot Lake.
This picture is from a day trip.

Aug.. 13: Swimming Lessons

This shot should remind me to switch my camera to the 'Sport' setting when trying to capture action.
The background of the photo is in sharp focus, but the little jumper is blurred!
"Sport' setting would automatically set a fast shutter speed to avoid blurrs.

Aug. 12: Swimming Lesson

I was delighted that I was able to capture some stop-action shots.

Aug. 11: Swimming lessons

For the past two weeks, I've been taking Aaron to swimming lessons at the Y.
On the last day, Lee was the  adult in the water with him, and I was the photographer!
He was a very Happy Swimmer and learned to be very comfortable both in, and under, the water!

Aug. 10: Aaron's swimming Lessons

I couldn't resist publishing this one!

Aug. 9: Meech Lake Swimmers

The Meech Lake Swimmers are a group of open water swimmers from our Y Masters' Club.
In the summer, some of us prefer to swim in the Lake rather than the pool!
Jen, Toe, Peggy, Margaret, Tom, Steve (he's a runner!) & Ted.
The swim is followed by latte and Croissant!

Aug. 8: Meech Lake

Early morning at Meech Lake provides some splendid shots of the sun rising,
or peaking from behind the life guard chair!

Aug. 7: Meech Lake

After an early morning swim at Meech Lake, the rising sun was giving glorious light.
I took my camera out into the lake, to capture the seagulls on the beach.

Aug. 6: Busker Festival

'The Fire Guy" performed on Sparks Street at the Busker Festival this weekend.
His finale was to skateboard through this flaming star!
I only had my itouch camera, but was able to catch the action!

August 5; Family

It's not very often that our whole family gets together -
and I remember to get take a photo of us all.
This is the first family photo since Marty was born!
Lee even managed to keep Georgia in focus.

August 4: China

I think a poet translated this one.

August 3: China

Louise pondered "Careful Drowning!"

August 2: China

We enjoyed many signs that had interesting and entertaining translations from Chinese into English.
We think this one was meant to be "Recycle"!

July 31: China

Hiking down the mountainside, there were many railings and urns with dragon motif.

July 30: China

Hiking down a mountain side just ourside of Kunming, there were many temples.
The architecture reminded me of they style that I have seen in Nepal.

July 30: China

The Stone Forest, near Kunmong, was an amazing rock formation, covering acres of land.

July 29: Cousins

Maggie meets her new cousin, Marty, for the first time.

July 28: Cousins

Duncan and his new cousin, Marty, have a nap together!
